Made from dried garlic, Member's Mark™ Granulated Garlic has a much longer shelf life than fresh or minced garlic. We often confuse granulated garlic with garlic powder. Between the two, garlic powder has a finer consistency and has a texture that closely resembles cornstarch. Meanwhile, granulated garlic has a bigger grind and is much closer to the texture of cornmeal.
When cooking, if your recipe calls for granulated garlic but you only have garlic powder or vice versa, you can use the two interchangeably. It is important to note that if the original recipe calls for granulated garlic, you may want to use half the amount of garlic powder as the finer grind will pack a stronger punch per teaspoon.
Member's Mark™ Granulated Garlic is a handy alternative to dried or fresh garlic, these can be found in the herb and spice section. They are quite concentrated, and 1/4 tsp of the fine granules is equivalent to 1 clove of garlic.
Uses: Sprinkle into pasta sauces, over pizzas, in soups and dips, and in recipe dishes before cooking.
